I was impressed with your idea of essence as opposed to a usual word, "soul." However, whatever we call that essence it is what leaves us as we depart terra firma.
What I often say when I am involved in funerals, which seems to be a pattern of late, is that although the body is gone, we can keep that essence, spirit, soul alive in our hearts and minds.
I am enjoying the blog a great deal and hope others will weigh in as well.
Also, what kind of State and Country are we that would go ahead with an execution in violation of a judge's order to have doctors present. And I loved the doctors for seeing a serious ethical conflict.
My friend Mike Morales deserves more than what he is getting.
